So I just found out that somebody from my high school (graduated 08) is in the Olympics... [I didn't know her, so I didn't find out until like a few minutes ago lol].

Anybody else have alumni at the Olympics? Just curious :)

i can't wait to see shawn johnson compete in womens' gymnastics!!!!
i think she's only 15

^ That is awesome.

And no, my school is too lame.

yup, we have someone who is swimming in 200m breathstroke.

^ There was some diver from Britain who was 14. I feel unaccomplished :( lmao.

EDIT: The girl who is competing from my school is in the 200 Meter Freestyle and 4x200 Freestyle Relay.

lol even if i could, i wouldn't want to reach a high enough skill level that's olympic worthy
putting your body through that causes damage in the future!!

i know someone in TKD, but he's not in high school. we hung out together at a tourni last year.

^^ Olympic athletes are some of the healthiest and fit people in the world. Their practices are tough and often strenuous, but that's usually what it takes to get to the Olympics. How would that cause them "damage" in the future?

No one in my school or from my school is in they Olympics.... But my cousin is an ice dancer in the Winter Olympics (he and his partner won gold for the US 2 years ago).

sports like swimming, running help your health in the future but sports like weightlifting, gymnastics can damage your back, etc..

^^ People who train hard from birth like most Olympians do have problems later on, generally with joints and stuff.

I don't think most olympians train from birth.

i don't think that was meant to be taken literally...

I think it was...

I meant from when they were really young.
Wow...

Yes babies are thrown on high bars and expected to just go. /sarcasm.

I'm pretty sure most of the gymnasts started practicing when they were around 5 or 6.

^ Many start training even younger than that.

Shawn Johnson is one buff midget.

Wow, I'm pathetic... Even though I've already graduated H.S, I thought about how great it would look to have **Participant in the Olympics **on your E.C's.

have u read Fat envelope Frenzy? Lisa Wang was close to putting that on her app, I guess. My sister knows her 'cause she does RG too - my sis was only an olympic alternate :)
