Winter Olympics 2022

Just watched her crash. OMG. So sad.

Yes. I stayed up late just to watch her.

Racing is definitely 80% mental and 20% physical. Watching her interview now and just want to tell the interviewers to bleep off. Leave her alone!!

Oh, I feel so bad for that little girl. I would say that the adults around her should be ashamed, but I’m not stupid enough to think that they are capable of that. No one to hold her.

Since my grandparents emigrated to the US from Canada, I’m good with a Canadian victory as well!!! O Canada!

It’s been agonizing to watch her. I feel for her. I don’t think she has to do the interviews, she is choosing to. It’s clear she is kind of trying to work out what’s happening by talking it through.

Well
the other two Russians will get their medal ceremony. I hate to say it
but I don’t think that’s an accident.

Sad ending to a sad saga.

I think that coach should be banned.

Yes, it’s pure evil what was done to that child.

When I said “I wish someone would fall on their sword,” I didn’t think it would be the 15-year old skater “taking the fall.” Wow. :frowning:

So
I have a question. When it was found out that this young skater tested positive for a banned substance in December (apparently found out after she actually skated in the team event), why wasn’t a test done IMMEDIATELY to determine if this was still in her system?

If this was a one off, as they are claiming, because of medication her grandfather took
by the beginning of February, she would not have tested positive for it, right?

There certainly is must be the ability to do this testing on the Olympic site. If not, that needs to change too.

Oh
and why was a test done in December NOT reported with results until February!

I think they are blaming Covid for the delay??? The testing site was shut down for a while and I guess they do reach out to others to confirm their result???

The sample was collected on December 25,2021 at the Russian nationals and sent to a lab in Sweden and not processed right away. Apparently due to Covid delays.

And they have no testing capabilities AT the olympics? :woman_facepalming:t2:

Sure there is. A couple of athletes got kicked out of the Olympics for testing positive DURING the Games. The skaters and all others test frequently at the Games.

Athletes can also get tested randomly out of competition.

So
was Kamila tested again in Beijing? If not
why.

You bet she was tested more than once.

Here is an example of one athlete testing positive at the Games:

So
what were the results? Was this banned substance still in her system when she competed in Beijing?

It doesn’t matter if the drugs were still in her system or not. If she tested positive, she should have been banned when they got the test results. That’s what Tara and Johnny said, anyway.
