Of these three, which school would you choose for a student who lives in NY with ambitions of going to med school?

mmm.. my dad used to teach at Stony Brook (but not in bio or pre-med) but he did say that Stony Brook had a very very strong bio department. They developed the MRI scan at Stony Brook. Having said that.. I've been to the Stony Brook ER more than a few times and the doctors aren't so great there. Don't know if that'll help lol. Good luck with your decision!

Anyone else?

Does anyone have anything to say? I'm more interested on opinions on the Maryland program.

I already know Wisconsin and Stony Brook have strong reputations, but what about Maryland? Is is one of their weaker programs and not worth going to over Wisconsin or Stony Brook?

A friend of mine from Wisconsin got into Univ of Penn med school with a 3.8, not sure on the MCAT though.

Maryland is a good school, but Wisconsin is simply better in most areas, so it's really between Stony Brook and Wisconsin. Can you afford Wisconsin? If so, I would go there - not only for academics, but all-around experience.

Both Wisconsin and Maryland are better schools than Stony Brook.

I know that Maryland has a better reputation than Stony Brook overall. How about for Bio / Pre-Med? If I am correct, Maryland isn't known for their bio program. How good is it?

I was trying to check the forum archive, but couldn't find anything there regarding Maryland's pre-med program.
