You definitely have a shot at temple and drexel. From what i hear UCF isnt very seleective. U of. Maryland possible because your instate…Howard dont know to much about… Rutgers u might but i had better academic scores than you in high school and didnt get in and I live in new jersey but i just found out i got in as a transfer from rutgers camden to new brunswick…but i think i can say u might not get into penn state (upark) and ohio state

Thanks so much for the feedback!

Your ACT is great! That can probably get you into Temple
alone but your GPA is what’s killing you.
You might get a shot at Rutgers-Camden with that GPA.
I only know about Temple and Rutgers because I am from NJ.
However, still apply because you have leadership positions
which looks great in the application process.
Oh yeah from what I’ve heard, Rutgers has a great dance
program or curriculum. You might want to look into
that if you like cheer leading (assuming you like to dance AND cheerlead)

I don’t think why you wouldn’t get into any of the colleges.
Your SAT score is pretty good, but your GPA is a bit low.
You can always transfer to college to college at Rutgers, so keep up the good work!

The only ones I would say yes in are VCU and UCF.

UMD, I would say no to, b/c you are OOS. UMDCP this yr had an acceptance rate of 37%, with @28K applicants, and only 30% are from OOS, most come from NJ/NY. Rutgers has always been competitive, and again you are OOS.
Same deal for Clemson and OSU.

Drexel and Temple are private so you have a better shot.

Finally your major maybe a reason you get in, but looking at your ECS it looks like you are leaning toward communication/journalism major. For UMD they have a reknown journalism school which makes it appealing and difficult to get in.

I would suggest to pick up a book at the library about the colleges, usually they have their stats listed or you can google the schools that you are interested in
Here’s RU, remember as an OOS they accept less which makes it more competitive. When you apply as OOS you always want to be above the 50% line.
[Rutgers | Rutgers Admissions](http://admissions.rutgers.edu/Academics/AdmissionsProfile.aspx)

I can tell you for OOS UMD, you will need an SAT score closer to 2000, and a gpa closer to 3.5 uw, or at least a 4.1w. DS is OOS from NoVA, so I am aware of the scores. I was originally from NJ, New Brunswick, so I know Rutgers.

No, we’re a state school.

Well if it is state, than I would move it over to the probably not since again you will be OOS. In some states they are legislated to how many OOS students they can accept, since tax dollars are used to support the school. Some just have an artificial number that they have selected. The reason why is nothing will tick off a parent more than the belief that the school took an OOS student over their IS child.

Also realize that with the economy, state college applications have dramatically risen, but the number they accept hasn’t, thus acceptances have come harder to come by.

Another reason that made news last yr, was that students are harming themselves. 5-10 yrs ago, kids applied to @5 schools, now they avg 10. Again, the school knows the percentage of acceptances that will matriculate, which means the competition has become stiffer. If you look at yourself you are applying to 13 schools.
