With my acceptance letter I got a scholarship - is this all the aid I will get?

So, I got my acceptance letter and I received their "presidential scholarship" for 20 k a year. I looked it up and it's based on my GPA and as long as it says above a certain point I will get it each year I attend her.

My question is , will I get any more aid from this school or is the 20 k it? I really appreciate the money but it still leaves like more than half the tuition when you add room and board. And since it's out of state I won't get the pell grant and such.. Do I have to wait for them to get my FAFSA before I get a whole financial aid packet?

Thanks! It's my first acceptance so I don't really know what to do.. lol

What is your FAFSA EFC likely to be? You can’t file until January 1st, so the school can’t tell you about that yet – but Pell grants are Federal awards, and if you’re qualified, it doesn’t matter that the school is out-of-state.

However – if your family is very low income, unless you applied to one of the (two?) public universities that promise to meet full need for out-of-state students, you probably will not get nearly enough aid to make this work.

Do you have some schools in your state – or private colleges that meet full need – to which you’ve also applied? If not, it is probably not too late.

Did you check the school web site to see if they stack scholarships? Some do, others don’t.

And since it’s out of state I won’t get the pell grant and such

???

Going out of state does NOT mean that you won’t get a Pell grant if you qualify for one. Pell is a FEDERAL grant. you get that no matter what state you go to school in…if you qualify.

* Do I have to wait for them to get my FAFSA before I get a whole financial aid packet?*

Yes…how else are they going to know what your family’s situation is?

Your FA from this school likely hasn’t been processed since it’s still early…unless you applied ED (if ED then an estimate is given). If you applied RD or EA, then your aid pkg will come in the spring AFTER you’ve filed FAFSA, etc.

What school is this?
