Hello everyone,

A newbie here. I have a question regarding financial aid. I completed the FAFSA and it said I qualified for $3500 from the Pell Grant. However on my student account for the university I will be attending, I don't see any notification stating I've actually recieved this grant. How do I know if I got it? And if I will get it, when?

Contact the school ASAP.

Did you list the school on your FAFSA?

Don’t look at your student account … aid may not be included on it yet. Look at your financial aid, instead. If it is listed in your financial aid, you are set.

Were you selected for verification? If so, have you completed it?

4kidsdad: I will do so today! And yes I did.

kelsmom:So I should check the actual FAFSA website? Would I need my PIN to do so? And I had to physically turn in tax forms(parents and mine) as well as a form listing all my household members(which is alot). Would that be the verification they required?

Thank you both for the replies. The thing that may be holding me back is the fact that for awhile they believed me to be an out of state resident (-.-) Been living in my state for the last 5-6 years!

Do you have a login/password to the school’s portal? Usually there will be both a student account section and a finaid section. Charges and payments/grant applications etc. would be in the student account section. If that’s where you are looking everything may not have been charged/applied yet. Look for the finaid section. If your Pell is listed there, then you will get it, it just hasn’t been applied to your account yet. If it’s not listed there, then contact finaid at the school.

I called the University and they told me my application hasn’t arrived to them for processing. I logged on to the pin site for FAFSA and looked over my SAR report. Some information was missign so I tried to input it (License number and having recieved free lunch in all years of K-12) but for some stupid reason, some stuff I couldn’t fill out. Hope that doesn’t mess anything up -.-

Did you JUST send in your FAFSA? That is why it’s not on your account … it has to be processed, then the school has to load it into their system, and then your aid will be awarded. Sounds like you just need to wait a bit. However, now that you made a change, you will need to wait until the change processes before you call the school again. You want them to have the most up to date FAFSA when you contact them. Wait until next Wednesday and then call.

You couldn’t update some info because it is probably not needed based on your other responses.

Well, it lists the University having made a recent change to my FAFSA actually. I assume it had to do with the fact that they were charging me out of state to tuition instead of resident. I actually completed my FAFSA awhile ago but they asked for physical copies of my taxes and other stuff which took a little longer to get to the university unfortunately. But they’re just waiting for the processed information to get back to the University (as you said kelsmom).

Alright well thank you all for the replies! It helped me very much to hear from you all! I highly appreciate it!
