(I heard if the person has English as in Second language, have better chances)
I am also planning to apply to UCSB, UCSD, UCD. (What are the chances also?)
P.S. I am planning for medical major
Do I have a low chance to get into UCI…?
You have a chance at UCI, since they like 4.0+ UC GPA’s and will be more lenient on your SAT score. UCSB/UCD will be much tougher and UCSD is probably not going to happen unless you bump up your SAT score into the 2000+ range (1370+ SAT+ Math)/ACT into the 30+ range. You have time so work on a little test prep and you can get there. As always, aim for above the average Stats, have some solid EC’s and excellent essays and these schools are possible.
I don’t think I can go higher than 1820 right now…
This summer, I am planning to do internship(?) and get volunteer hours, (assuming 500 something hours)
And I can maybe write a good essay for application. Is it fine?
Your stats are not bad, and as long as your ECs are good, you have a good chance.
However, you should note that there is no medical major as an undergrad. In the US, you need to finish undergrad first and then you can apply to medical school. Some schools offer a pre-med major, but those are useless. As an undergrad, you can major in whatever you want as long as you complete the medical school prerequisite courses (once you start college, there will be advisors to tell you what courses to take).
Idk uci got a lotta applicants this year, will probably happen again. There s a lot of other applicants just like you (esl) and you are competitive but try to get better test scores and take any subject tests to differentiate yourself. Im korean too, and I know the struggle haha.
