Hi, I’m currently a rising senior from California who is hoping to get into UCI. I am a Asian female; I was born in Korea and lived in California for five years. I heard international students have slightly higher chances of getting into desired college because of money, is this true?

My essays should be very good/above average. Would anybody please give me a rough chance on me getting into
UCI, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCSD, and USC?
UC GPA? https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Unweighted GPA?
Highest SAT score from single sitting since UC’s do not superscore?
You are a California resident but not a citizen?
Intended major?
@Gumbymom
Sorry for the missing information, and thank you so much for your time.
UC GPA: 3.96
Unweighted GPA: 3.76
SAT: 1860
I am a California resident, not a citizen.
Intended Major: bioinformatics (but I am going to put this as my alternative major and choose something less popular to raise my chances of getting accepted)
UCI is doable although your UC GPA and test scores are slightly below the averages. For the rest of the schools, your stats are below average. UC’s are very GPA focused and you are within range but I see no safety schools. You definitely need to bump up your test scores for solid chance at the rest of the schools on your list.
I would add UCSC and UCR has solid Match schools to your list. You might want include your local CSU as a safety.
Based on what you have posted:
UCI: Match-High Match
UCD: High Match
UCSD: Low Reach
UCLA/UCB: Reach
UCI like all the UC’s are very GPA focused but raising your SAT will definitely help your chances at all the schools. Just make sure you have a safety or two as a backup. Good Luck.
My friends had similar standings as you and a lot of them got into UCI.
From my perspective, I think you have a strong chance!
However, because UCI has a lot of Asian students, I heard that it is more competitive and tough to get in
if you have Asian ethnicity. Also, I think UCI is becoming more picky of incoming students.
My friends and I applied to variety of UC campuses to transfer from UCR this year, and none of us got into
UCI (we got into UCSD, UCD, UCSB).
If by any chance you don’t get into UCI, I suggest you to go to a community college or UCR and aim for transfer.
Going to UC from different college is way easier than going straight from high school. 파이팅!
