Hey Guys, so I need your opinion on this. So far, I have two Ws on my transcript and I’m entering my Junior Year of college. I currently have a B in one of my classes that isn’t going to get any better in the next month, I’m thinking about withdrawing before the deadline in a few days, should I?? If I were to keep the B I would be at a 3.67, If I were to take the W I would be at a 3.73. I plan to go to graduate school just to add some background. Thanks for your advice.
I would not withdraw from a class where you expect to get a B – especially with two withdrawals on your transcript already.
This one B will not keep you out of grad school. A B is way better than a W. Withdrawing is for when you are failing a class, or your health has forced you to leave school entirely.
Which type of grad school? Which course? I disagree with the others that a W is worse than a B.
I would not withdraw for a B. No way! What a waste of money!
@bouders This would be the OP’s third W in two and a half years of college. I think that would raise more red flags for grad schools than a B. And for the record, one withdrawal is fine (my S withdrew from a class when he had mono one semester and couldn’t keep up with the five courses he was taking and he still got into a top grad program in his field.) However, a string of withdrawals is generally not well received. Withdrawals should be reserved for emergency/unexpected sitations as @happymomof1 noted.
@happy1 It depends on how the transcript is evaluated, which depends on what type of grad school @Ryanjingle is applying for. If the OP is applying for law school, a W or 2 or 3 won’t matter.
@bouders I think we will have to agree to disagree on this.
