Withdrawing other apps if accepted ED

I was accepted ED and was given until Jan 5 to decline or accept the offer. I haven't yet withdrawn from other schools that I applied to, and I have until Jan 5 to do that, right?
If I decline the ED offer (due to immense financial hardship), my other already-submitted apps will be valid, right?

I know the dilemma of declining the ED offer, but my parents spoke to the fin aid people at the school, and the counselor said declining would be my only choice if we couldn't pay.

You are correct in your two questions. You have until 5 Jan and if you decline your ED the other apps are valid.

Yes, you will have no trouble at most schools. Yet there is a BUT. If you applied ED to Penn for example, and the other applications are to Harvard and Yale which clearly have better aid, you could have problems. Penn will expect you understood the aid realities and sends the other ivies lists of those accepted ED.

Yet if your other applications were to state schools, other less expensive schools or if there was something your family honestly misunderstood about aid, no problem.

thank you both!
No it wasn’t an Ivy, so I’m OK as long as I make my decision before Jan 5 :p
