Withdrawing your application?!

Okay here is the deal. I applied EA to Case Western Reserve and was deferred. Now the sticker price of this school with tuition and housing is 50,000+ a year. Because my parents' income is too high, I will basically receive little to no need based aid. Since I was deferred, there is no possibility of merit aid or scholarships. This is the one huge financial reach school I applied to. There is no chance in hell that I could afford Case without merit aid.

So they want me to interview a second time since I'm deferred...I really don't want to waste their time or my own. The best case scenario would be me getting in but not being able to afford it :/ so I want to withdraw my app.

If TL;DR--->how do I withdraw my application?

Very simple - just email the admissions department - simply write that you have decided to withdraw your application. If they have assigned you any type of student ID # - refer to that in the email - otherwise - use your full name and address - so they can identify you and cancel your application. Just be 100% sure that this is what you want to do.

I wouldn’t automatically assume that deferral from CWRU means no merit aid. There were reports last year of pickups from the wait list getting substantial merit awards.

Yea I was planning on withdrawing but I guess I have no choice now… My parents yelled at me when I said I wanted to withdraw lol. Will be a little disheartening interviewing with a school that deferred me ha. My first interview was literally perfect so I hope it goes just as well. Ugh.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed at the possibility of merit aid :/. Thank you both.
