What's up with Case's on-line financial aid form still not available? I just checked the website. Anyone else been able to access? I guess I'll call tomorrow. At least we completed the FAFSA tonight.

The website said it would be available yesterday and it's still not on today.
I'm really anxious for my parents to fill it out

Where is this form?

Do you need to be accepted in order to fill it out?

SHS_Spartan:
you fill the form out after you are accepted
details about how to apply are included in the acceptance letter

My mom just did the provisional award and I feel completely screwed by Case's financial aid. $10,400 in loans! My efc is 6717. I really like Case, but this is crazy. I have a presidential scholarship. Is there any way to negotiate to get more Case grant-in-aid? Are they willing to change their financial aid packages at all?

So when exactly is Case's deadline for filing the FAFSA?

yeah, i think there is room to negotiate, especially if you have been accepted to other schools of CWRU's caliber. and make sure to tell them your circumstances.
sari: I believe it is March 1st.

Xtra: when you say negotiating - how much are we talking about here? I too received only 22500 per year (and that's not going to cut it at all...). Any more tips on negotiating financial aid?

Well... That's is about what I got too. I will explain the process to you later, but get How to Pay for College without going broke by Princeton Review (very helpful for the whole process) Do you have any other schools of similar caliber? if not, then try presenting them with a sorted list of your family budget per year to try to convince them that the amount is not enough. Also make sure that any documents that you did not submit to them earlier( e.g. tax returns) is submitted with the MOST updated information.
And by the way these tips are all from that book I said above, so the book is highly recommended (by me, in my personal opinon). And also write a letter stating these causes, and be sure to be polite and through.

I hope this helps.

I'm not trying to sound horrible, but I really expected to get some sort of MERIT scholarship and all I got was some grant. Not going to brag, but I got in to UChicago. . . I mean. . . come on!

Is there anything I can do? I don't want to be the only girl who got in without a scholarship. Gah!

What were your test scores?

katia, try calling the admissions office. i had a 35 ACT, excellent gpa/recs/ECs, etc, but i didn't get a merit scholarship. they told me i'd be a good case for an appeal. i had to write a letter, but i'm hoping they'll get back to me soon. i'm not sure why i didn't get one, but it's good to know someone else is in the same boat!

Wow, a 35 and no merit scholarships? Did you express any interest in the school?

Well, I am an OLAP finalist, but I didn't get a trustee's/president's. I applied last minute (December) without visiting. I still haven't visited but as long as I get a merit scholarship there's a very strong chance I'll go there. I've been corresponding with my admissions person so I hope that will help my case.

2046 2008 - Do you know if all the OLAP finalists have been notified? How were you notified? (e-mail, letter, OR did they only tell you after you inquired about your appeal?)

Also, if someone is offered a Trustee's Scholarship, could they still receive the OLAP award in addition to the Trustee's Scholarship?
