is wm's campus nice? comparable to....

Comparable to UVA's campus but in my opinion much nicer, I'm sure others disagree.

It's more of a naturally beautiful campus than others like Duke, etc. By that I mean it relies on historic trees and natural un-forced beauty, as opposed to meticulous flower beds etc In a certain light, the grass areas are kind of like Harvard's in my opinion

I visited the William and Mary campus last summer and again this spring. People had told me how beautiful it was and they were right! I had visited Grinnell, Oberlin, UVA and a few others and none compared to W&M, either in beauty or friendliness. Bjcdb is right in saying that the campus is naturally beautiful with it's trees, grassy areas, etc. but the beautiful old buildings, brick walkways and Crim Dell certainly help!

Old campus is beautiful (Sunken Garden, Wren Building, the confusion corner area).

New campus (Morton, Millington, Botetourt, Frats, Randolph) are a sickening sight. . . they never show those places in the promotional brochures. . . I say they're sickening because their appearance looks nothing like the colonial-esque atmosphere of Old Campus.

I think W&M has a very pretty campus, well old campus at least. But I think the University of Richmond has an even better looking campus actually, especially when the lake is clean.

I have yet to see a promotional brochure that didn't only showed the most attractive areas of a college and left out the ugly parts! On my visits I toured the entire campus and didn't see any new building I'd classify as "sickening." I haven't been on the University of Richmond campus so I can't speak to that, but I hope this thread doesn't turn into a "who has the nicest campus" contest.

I personally adore the W&M campus. As my sister said: "Everything is so green!" Compared to UVa, W&M has many more trees and natural beauty. Also, the old campus dorms and academic buildings have a very old-fashioned elegance to them.

I think everybody here is underestimating UVA's campus.

Well......................Uhhhhh this IS a William and Mary thread. UVA's campus is beautiful, anyone with a brain who has seen it knows that. William and Mary's campus certainly has a different feel and ambience. It's more enclosed in old campus and has a distinct, ivy feel. Think of it this way, six men meet a beautiful girl....................2 see her as drop dead gorgeous, while 2 think of her as ordinarily attractive, and the final two objectively think she looks fine, but do not see her as anything special. Between William and Mary and UVA, in so many areas...........it's all a matter of personal preference. At least that's the way I see it. I just got back from helping a buddy move into his dorm at UVA. A truly beautiful campus. My heart belongs to William and Mary and I much prefer the looks and feel of our campus.

W&M's campus is easily one of the nicest in the country.
