Womans lacrosse and Acceptance into the NESCACS

Hello - my daughter will be graduating in 2019 and has her heart set on playing lacrosse and attending one of the NESCAC’s. She is a good player and has already been looked at by many schools, but wants to play for a NESCAC’s and D3 and is getting frustrated as she hears about friends and teammates committed to D1 and D2 programs. She knows the D3 process is longer, but is not sure if she can get into one of these schools she has spent so much time communicating with and pursuing. She is a good student, high honors all through HS, mostly A’s and some high B’s in her AP classes so far this year. She is taking 3 AP classes as a junior. She is on the NHS and was selected as one out of 5 Peer counselor out of 50 applicants in her class, she plays FH and Lacrosse and is an active member in the community and at school.

Many of her teammates attend private schools, and are also looking at NESCACS, so she is concerned her public school education might not get her where she so desperately wants to go and play.

Any insight into public school acceptance rates compared to private?
Will being a very good lacrosse player help her get in?
What else could help her acceptance?

@laxgirl2019 I just came across your post from November and I’m curious if your daughter has had any luck. My 2021 daughter is just starting to think about this and she has her heart set on NESCAC schools (her dad and I went to Bates so she has always wanted NESCAC). She is also a FH and lacrosse player, though she has played lacrosse her whole life since we live in Maryland. I’m wondering if your daughter has been getting good feedback and if you have any suggestions. Mine goes to a well known private school that sends girls to NESCAC schools but they are more focused on Ivy League and top universities like Vanderbilt. I don’t see why your daughter would have a harder time coming from public school if her lacrosse coach has connections at NESCAC (club coach more likely). From what I hear, being a strong lacrosse player will definitely help. Coming from Maryland, I know many girls who have gone on to play lacrosse and FH in college and it has been a big hook.
