Women in Combat

this board is getting annoying. Women are not im combat. Period. ***** and moan all you want, becuase i doubt this will change for a long time

Just a warning to any prospectives out there: The question regarding women in combat was asked by both of my senators' Academy Selection Boards . Just a heads up.

Wish I'd have gotten that one...instead, they hit me with the classic "Man or the Mission" question and I completely blew it. And that's saying something, since it's supposedly a "no right answer" question.

Marines4Me

Daughter Jenna reports at 6:30am as well. Her mom and I will be with her and it would be great to run into you there! That's great you have a family up there already to stay with! Looking forward to your upcoming post on new corps policy!

USMMA--good luck at the Merchant Marine Academy. I am sure you will do well there!

Oops, thought I'd already posted it.

Anyways, this conversation is going nowhere. Bill, you're right. Let's move on to other topics. I guess everyone's just going to have to agree to disagree.

Here's the new change in policy (at least some of it, I don't know the rest):

Summer training will now feature Green, Amber, and Red weapons phases. At the Point, this weapons posture is completely different from Army policy.

Green status is when cadets and cadre carry weapons without a magazine or with an empty magazine.
Amber is weapon with blank rounds in magazine, no round chambered.
Red is weapon w/ round chambered.

At all times, the weapon will be on safe unless on the range and given the command to fire, or when soldier perceives imminent threat.

Operation Warrior Forge is no longer a 24-hour operation, but it is also no longer “Operation Carry-Heavy-Stuff.” More emphasis is placed on tactical movement and squad operations. Included in training will be convoy ambushes, NBC attacks, security and tactical movement.

The Marchback is being cut in length by three miles due to excessive injuries sustained returning to garrison.

Uniforms are being changed – after Branch night, firsties will wear Branch insignia in place of the black shield everywhere but on headgear. Cadet awards are now being worn below the pocket flap on As For Class, India White, and W/G to permit wear of regimental insignia (for prior-service cadets).

The A and B Saturdays are being eliminated, and Saturday training may extend to 1600. Regiments will alternate free weekends and training weekends. Unfortunately, Physics Saturdays are still here to stay.

All cadets are being issued flak jackets with field gear (TA-50).

Camelbacks are now standard issue. Printers are also standard issue, mostly so Goldcoats (the computer support staff) can repair them.

The maximum number of pushups for New Cadets during Beast has increased from 20 to 40.

"The Marchback is being cut in length by three miles due to excessive injuries sustained returning to garrison."

Blargh ... major suckage.

I second that. I'll do 40 push-ups, but...well, even if there's a max-push-up per "correction" limit, there's no limit to how many corrections your cadre can subject you to, is there? I think my arms are gonna get really, really good during Beast...

Marines4me, do you know why the changes so suddenly? I'm just curious.

I have no idea, actually. Supposedly there's a lot more that's changed, but I'm not aware of what it is. All I know is that we're in for a very, very, very interesting summer. I expect to go into Acceptance Day with no fat on my body, very little muscle (I'm REALLY muscular right now--I've been working out almost every day.) besides that in my back and arms, and to have a very complimentary farmer's tan. :) Hastellion, once it gets closer to R-Day, want to exchange cell-phone numbers so that we can keep in touch? That goes for any other candidate as well.

I'd love to chitchat, marines4me. I'll PM you with my number once I get my wisdom teeth out and can speak properly again---that should be about the 6th or 7th of June. Until then, think of me when you're in the weight room bench-pressing...because somewhere, hundreds of miles away, I'm doing exactly the same thing...

hahah, sounds good. :) Have fun with your wisdom teeth! ;) I'm still waiting to hear if I have to have those taken out...
