How is the college experience AND the rowing experience? Gossip alert: I learned today that the multiple NCAA Div III winning coach at Williams has been lured to a DI school. Dartmouth maybe?</p>
<p>I have a family member who was recruited by a D1 school, signed a national letter of intent, and rowed as a freshman. She had to get up at 5:00 am 6 days a week. She also did erg training three afternoons per week. She would make up for her lost sleep by catching naps. At the end of her freshman year, she resigned from the team. She lost her partial scholarship, but stayed at the university. She feels that she made the right decision, as she enjoys college more now, and the scholarship was not worth the hours that she was putting in. Most of her teammates gave up rowing as well.</p>
