Wondering About Early Action

I applied early action and am wondering why I haven’t heard back yet. The notification date says “on or around feb. 1,” but I am getting more and more anxious as it gets further and further from feb 1. I tried emailing and calling to ask if the notification date for early actioners has changed, but I have received no reply. Anyone else in the same boat?

My son was really excited about applying, filled out the online application and had some additional questions. It’s been more than a week and he has yet to hear back from them. Also, their website seems a bit sparse on application and financial aid information. (For example, the online application won’t allow you to upload the scholarship essay.) I’m beginning to think they’re not very well-organized, which may apply to their academic program as well.

I know they’ve been inundated with applications since the story about the tuition fellowships hit the news. They say they’ve received more than 2,000 applications for 75 spots. That means they could have an exceptionally low acceptance rate this year.

Good luck, whaleshark!

Thanks for the reply, pcaz. You are definitely right about the massive influx of applicants. I visited the college and found thoughtfully organized programs and very friendly staff, faculty and students. It’s refreshing to deal with a group of people rather than a mechanized system that I find at other schools. The admission office staff is much friendlier and more helpful than any other college I’ve visited, so I’m trying to be patient as they sort through thousands of applications. Best of luck to your son! I hope he hears back soon as well.
