Last year the Class of 2010 message board was fairly active through the summer. My daughter, however, much preferred facebook.

It's official. Sending the check today. Woohoo.

DD now thinking about marching band. She's pit captain at her h.s. since the use of marching cello is so rare. (g) there is one at the Met Museum in NYC I think, and that's about it. She plays marimba and such.
I'm excited for her. Any band parents here? Do we drop her off a week early and go home?

Is she going to play the cello in marching band? Or percussion?

Daughter not a band kid, but that sounds like so much fun!

My daughter (bagpipes) is planning to be in the band. I believe they go a few days before the regular orientation. I saw something on their website about it last year. I think you have the option of returning for orientation but it is not necessary.

DD would play percussion in band.
To my knowledge the last walking-around cello outside of a woody allen movie was hundreds of years ago, though it should be brought back of course!
my impression of the band camp info is that they all start early, then the freshmen students are sent off to orientation events once they start and kind of go back and forth from band to orientation.

Oh, okay. I had never heard of a marching cello, but thought maybe it was a Wooster thing or something . . . or some unique thing your daughter did . . . :)
