Hi everyone!
I just finished my main essay for Yale, approximately 750 words. Is that too long?
I understand that they put a limitation of 500 words on supplement essay, do they have one for main essay?
How long did you guys write?

You may want to post this on the main Yale forum where they discuss details of the app process.

I was wondering the same. My Yale supplement is approximately 750 words as well. I have read that a slight stretch of the word limit is not a major concern, but an essay that is too long-winded will likely be unfavored. I could personally not cut anything from mine.

My common app essay is 745 so yeaa haha. From what I’ve heard 500 is midrange with 750 being a good upper limit. So I guess we’re both in the safe zone.

they have thousands of essays to read…so…uhhh…yeah i’d try to make it as short and concise as possible

imagine yourself as an admissions officer with hundreds/thousands of apps to go through? how would you handle the essays?

The adcom still has several months to mull through every application so each essay will be read thoroughly and by various individuals.

THank you guys! This makes me feel much better.
