<p>How strict are they?</p>
<p>I mean the responses to the Chemical/CS/Engineering Supplement are limited to 1000 characters. I managed to take it down to 1004, but the “You have … characters left” keeps showing me -4 characters left. Do they reject it if it’s >1000 chars?</p>
<p>I think since it's physically posted on the website, it's best to adhere strictly to their character limits. Is there an adjective you could eliminate?</p>
<p>if you cross the character count, it wouldn't appear on the pdf. as simple as that.</p>
