I have a similar question as Tryin2support–For anyone whose child is studying in London: Could you please share housing prices and food/living budgets? If the student budgets - doesn’t eat out much, prepares food, etc - how does its cost compare to, say, NYC? Thanks for any thoughts.

connections, my D has lived and worked in London for several years now. Generally speaking, you should plan on costs approximating one dollar in North America equalling one pound in London. It’s a much more expensive city than NY to live in.

LAMDA gives you an estimate of costs and I can say it was fairly accurate. My D is now starting to cook more realizing it does get expensive, but sometimes the hours at the school are not conducive to cooking in her flat. As far as credit card, Bank of America has a travel rewards card which doesn’t charge fees to use internationally. If she uses her debit in certain places there are no fees to take out money, but very often she incurs fees as the locations are not close to the school. Sending packages to the UK has been horrible. I sent her a valentines package out February 6 and just got it back home here for some reason yesterday!

@connections and @Tryin2support I sent you a pm
