working hard for TISCH

i am currently just starting the second quarter of my 8th grade year, and i have a passion for acting. i take dance classes, i am taking acting classes in january, and i sing but i am shy. I am wondering what would help me get into TISCH sand what i should work on. not to mention i tend to put my social life first so i am wondering if anyone has any advice for me to focus on my work 100% of the time. this is my dream

First of all, as a senior in high school my best advice to you is to block this site from your computer, do your absolute best in school and whatever your passionate about (acting in your case) and enjoying life. Come back to this site as a Junior or Senior.
But, since you’re on it, I know that Tisch is very selective and focuses a lot on talent. I’m no expert, but I would say if you aren’t dancing competitively to join a competition team. There may be recruiters for NYU at those dance competitions, and if not you’ll get a lot better.
Acting and singing lessons are good steps. Try joining your local or high school theater clubs. Star in some plays to pad up your resume.
Also, NYU is tough academically. Study for and take the SATs, take AP and honors classes if you can and try not to get less than a B

For motivation, I hung a bunch of NYU posters above my desk in my room, and wrote out a plan for how I would tell people I got in to NYU
