i'm thinking about applying to both colleges, but I was wondering about the workload. I live in ny and I would like to go home occasionally (not counting holidays and vacations). With the workload, would it be possible?

Which is the other of “both colleges”? The Williams workload is very rigorous (not quite to the extreme of, say, Swarthmore), but students lead very balanced lives (athletics, the arts, etc.). New York is a 3 hour drive, and there are buses from Williamstown.

I presume the OP means Vassar as s/he did in the previous post, but obviously, that is just conjecture on my part.

It really depends on how disciplined you are. However, wanting to go home frequently will be more of a crimp on your social life than academic progress. Most review sessions take place during the week (or Sunday night), so you should be fine in that regard.
