World History Study Thread

Let's start a study thread... it looks like quite a few people are gonna be taking this...
i'll start it off

what empire was known for their military rule and used terror tactics to hold the people together? (preceded the persian empire)

I have 5 days to read all of Kaplan's. Fun.

was it the mongolian empire? I don't know I'm just guessing...

I am so scrood for this test. I just took the three practice test from the REAL book for the three tests that i am gonna take on Saturday and my scores for math 2c, chemistry, and world history were: 800, 780, 650 respectively. I dont even have a book to prep me for the world test and there's only five days left to study... What are u guys all doing this last week to study.

O, and i hv no idea for the answer for that pre-persian empire question.

Assyrian empire

i have the barrons book, it goes in one eye and comes out the other

The first European sailor to reach India by going around tip of Africa was?

can you give us the choices please?

vasco de gama

First prime minister of India who was interested in modernization:

Jawaharlal Nehru (knew it but had to look up the spelling)

Who was the leader of the Polish Solidarity movement?

Oh, and is the Real SAT Subject test the same scale as the others, where an 80 raw is still an 800?

no choices lol

Lech Walesa (spelling?)

The Gupta empire fell to which nomadic group?

The Huns (Xiong-nu)

Who led the Berber invasion of Spain?

uh... anybody?

tariq?????

yeah, it's tariq

I'm using Kaplan to study for this and I'm a little unsure about the practice tests....
I got a 610 on the first Kaplan practice test but a 760 on the practice test in the "Real SAT" book. I'm hoping the blue book is more accurate. Did anyone else find the Kaplan tests hard?

i thought the kaplan tests were a lot tougher than the real SAT IIs test.

we'll see how the actual one is.

btw, if the real sat II test the only released world history test?

also, out of curiosity, are the practice exams from kaplan 2006-2007 different from the 05-06 ones? if so, i need to get the new one too... uggh :(

Generally the tests stay the same, so I wouldn't bother buying a new book.

What do you think is a decent score, is it getting about a 700?

Can someone explain the different types of art, cause I can't find it in the Kaplan book.
Difference between like impressionism, realism, cubism, neoclassicism, renaissance, byzantine, medieval.

Thanks

decent score ~ 750-760

cubism - using cubes? idk lol
realism - more realistic features
renaissance - humanistic art forms

Keep in mind that the test is mostly Eurocentric. Most of the questions on the test are going to be about Europe so I wouldn't worry too much if you don't know a little bit of the non-European stuff.
