worried about 1st semester senior grades.

up to my junior i only received 2 Bs in 9th grade and my cumulative gpa was 4.47. straight A's in 10, 11th grades.
however, this semester i think im going to get 2 Bs in 2 ap classes and then my gpa for this semester will be 4.5.

will this risk my chance?

p.s. i received 4.67 in all semesters for 10 and 11th grade. and this year im taking 5 ap classes.

Admissions is the sum of so many parts that it doesn't do any good to focus on one little tiny piece of the puzzle. I doubt very much that getting accepted (or not) will hinge a couple of B's. Look on the bright side, if you end up at Swarthmore, at least you'll know how to take something less than a perfect A in stride!

I don't know for sure, but I imagine that just about every successful Swarthmore applicant has something on their transcript that could have blown them out of the water.

do we need to send a midyear report to them?

yes, you do

erg okay I shall :D

I'm a current '09er, who's read this forum for a while (even as a spec), but has never quite had the nerve to register and post . . . untill I saw this post.

theonlyone- YOU'LL BE FINE!!!! My stats were much lower than yours and they took me last year (granted, I was ED, but still). Seriously, two Bs aren't going to hurt you, especially since you're taking 5 APs AND maintaining straight As junior year is quite impressive. Granted, college admissions can be somewhat like a roll of the dice, but I honestly don't think two Bs are going to have a huge effect on your application.

Artemis,
Thank you so much for joining in the Swat forum. We could use more actual students posting, rather than people who have visited the school once, will be matriculating elsewhere, yet feel that they know what "most" Swat students "feel." Welcome!
