Worried about affording?

I would like to attend Pitt, but I'm not sure if I can afford it, so I have a few questions.

Are there any students from low income families who are going or have gone to Pitt? How does it work out?

How is financial aid at Pitt?

What's the deal with scholarships? I received a $20,000 ($5,000 a year) academic scholarship recently, and I'm wondering if there's a chance I can get anymore? It kinda seems like peanuts when looking at $33,000 a year.

What could I be offered personally to alleviate my financial situation? I'm African-American, a Pennsylvania resident, a first generation college student, I come from a low income family, accepted in the Dietrich School, and I have a 3.6 QPA and 2010 SAT score.

Thank you very much in advance!

Hell @Minnon! Paying for your undergraduate degree can certainly be a huge concern. You can give our Office of Admissions and Financial Aid a call (412-624-7488) if you’d like to talk further about financial aid options.

I also strongly encourage you to fill out your FAFSA if you were not already planning to do so. Filling out this form means you will be considered for federal aid, which can include Pell and SEOG grants, PHEAA grants (PA residents) Perkins, Nursing, and Health Profession Loans, Stafford Loans, and Federal Work-Study. https://fafsa.ed.gov/
