I'm majoring in chemical engineering at Purdue and I'm freaking out. I'm leaving for India to visit family after 6 years this summer, and I've decided to restudy AP Chemistry, study Calc I for the first time, study physics/ap physics for the first time. I'm really worried because I heard the freshman chemistry course at Purdue is designed to "weed out" students.. and I absolutely suck at chemistry as of now. When I tried I did pretty damn well in the class, but I got a D-/C for both semesters this year (C most likely this semester) because I don't put in nearly enough effort that is required. Help? Should I choose a different major?

lol...I'm kinda sorta in the same boat. I'll be a psychology/pre-med major at UGA in the fall and I'm worried about taking Calculus because my teacher this year really isn't teaching us much (ironically she's a UGA alum lol) and I just don't get math AT ALL. I'll be seriously screwed if it's one of the 300 student lecture classes...my professor will constantly see me in their office...that plus my fear of taking Organic Chem my sophomore year leaves me contemplating on whether I should switch to pre-law instead because I'm an English nerd and Law has began to pique my interest lately.

To Indian, you already know your problem and how to fix it. You do well when you try hard but don't when you don't. Solution? TRY. Chemistry is not something you can BS. It's not like an English essay where you can just write off the top of your head. You either know it or you don't, and if you want to succeed in this demanding major, then you better know it.
