I’m a HS senior who was accepted RD. In my admitted student package, there were “Conditions for Accepting Your Offer of Admission” - “If these conditions are not met, the admissions committee reserves the right to withdraw its offer of admission.”
Among the conditions is one I am worried about: “3. You will continue with the curriculum that was in progress or planned for the remainder of your final year in secondary school.”
I was enrolled in 5 AP classes at the beginning of the year. I was stuck between two different AP courses for my fifth AP slot, so I enrolled in one and continued self-studying the other. At the semester, I dropped the first AP course from my schedule and switched into a different AP. In short, I dropped one of my AP’s at the semester - replaced it with another.
This does violate the third condition. Should I be concerned? Do I need to tell Tufts? If I do, then I would rather do it as soon as possible.
It should be fine. Yes, you should tell Tufts. Even without it being stated on the conditions letter, you should communicate any changes to the schedule that you submitted on the Common App.
@skieurope Can I call the admissions office, or should I email the regional admissions counselor? I didn’t tell them at the semester because I wasn’t sure if I would be admitted, but I’m worried because I’m telling them so late that they would think of it as weird or sketchy.
You can call the admissions office and ask how they want the message communicated; they may ask for an email so that they have a paper trail.
You can tell Tufts, but I can’t imagine that taking a different AP would be a problem. It’s dropping a lot of courses that they are worried about.
@mathmom Sorry for the continuing paranoia! I emailed them letting them know, and didn’t get a response. So I called Admissions and just spoke with a counselor, who confirmed that there is no problem. As I hung up, I wished that he got back to me through e-mail instead of phone, just in case there is any conflict later down the road. I’m wondering if I should call back and ask to get the confirmation through e-mail?
Relax! It will be fine, really!
