Worried about not getting into the colleges I've applied to?

To start, I’ve applied to two colleges in SoCal: CSU Fullerton and CSU Long Beach. These are two of the most applied to CSUs. I’m an out of state student (WA) and I know that they mostly accept local students so I’m just really worried that even though my scores are good enough, I won’t be accepted because I’m out of state. I have a 4.0 and 1200 CR+M SAT score, which are both above the average scores for these schools. If I lived down there, I feel like I’d definitely get in. But since I’m out of state, I don’t know. How to stop worrying?

First of all, are these two the only colleges that you applied to. If they are, then I would try applying to a few backup schools. If not, relax. There is nothing you can do about an application that you have already sent out so, all you can do is hope for the best. Good luck!

If you are worried, then you should have had a list of some other safety/backup schools to which you applied to in case these don’t work out. Did you do that?

You seem to be a Match for CSUF and CSULB. Since you are OOS, I assume you a full pay for these schools which should help your chances. Like above posters stated, do you have any safety schools for backup since these schools
are a definite acceptance?

I’m sure you’ll be accepted into these CSU’s. I have a few friends with a lesser GPA/SAT score and got in fine.

I honestly thought I would get in to both of them because my scores are fine. But the more I read into it, the more worried I get. For example, I found on the CSULB website that about 33.5k students are from CA and only 346 are from 43 other states. That just worries me a bit.

Did you apply to an impacted or non impacted major?
Have you run the NPCs - are the colleges affordable - have you talked with your parents wrt budget?
Where else have you applied?
If you only applied to these two, apply to 2-3 more schools to be safe - pick among Western Washington, USeattle, UPugetSound, UPortland, Lewis&Clark, Willamette, Pacific Lutheran, U of the Pacific, Whittier, URedlands, LMU…
