so here are my stats. everything is in line with washu except my sat math. i am afraid this will keep me out because their average 50% is 690 to 780 and i have a 660. am i doomed? should i submit my act (overall 31, math 29, english and science higher...might be a 32 super scored with other one). is it too late to retake the sat? i just wish my math score weren't so low. anyone know of anyone admitted with a lower than 50% avg math?

I am applying RD
I checked that i am also applying for need based aid, but my family will probably not qualify to receive any
I visited

you'd be surprised what WashU may give you for aid. My family doesn't really need aid and I wasn't sure I'd qualify yet I got a 25k scholarship amongst my merit scholarships. However...WUSTL is super expensive still(without scholarship it costs around 38000)

I only submitted my Act. In light of the increased competition you will be facing in RD, I'd say to submit both. But to be honest I don't know if they would mark you down for a low score rather than appreciate that you took/sent the SAT as well. And yes I'd say it is too late to retake your SAT unless they put you on the waitlist.

The way to maximize your chances is by showing interest through visiting/interviewing at the campus and asking plenty of questions. I didn't really think I had much of a chance with my stats, yet I tried hard to portray to them that Washu was my dream school. And I just got in ED so miracles can happen.

so i emailed washu about possibly sending them january sat scores and my territory admissions person said that they couldn't guarantee they would be considered, but that if i choose to send them she would forward them to admissions and i should fax the online ones so that they arrive as early as possible. does this mean that is is likely that they will be considered, especially if im on the edge? and if so would they be considered for scholarships as well? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.........

I hate to break it to you, but the posters on CC aren't going to be able to give you better answers to your questions than the admissions reps. There's no point in worrying about it. It is what it is. Just make sure you've applied to a range of schools. You've done your best -- just wait and see where it takes you. Enjoy your holiday.

yea, I guess I was just hoping for more of a "if you were in this situation what would you do" or "how would you interprete this response" because sometimes my own opinions and interpretations are obviously biased

Sending you a pvt msg. I think you havr a shot. You have a great curriculum, which is important to them. Everything else is in line. So you never know.

btw you were correct the first time with saying "weren't". The rule is to use were when it is preceded by "wish" or "if".

Other than that, I think you have a very solid chance of getting in. I just did ED for architecture. And just under the 25% range means 375 ppl who are ENROLLING, not to mention those who were accepted and aren't, have a math score equal to OR LOWER THAN yours, so I wouldn't stress over it too much... It seems hypocritical to say that because I was just as stressed as you are, but honestly, I don't think its a problem for you. You are a strong candidate.

You're solid; that math score is not ideal, but it is not too low to be qualified. Your other scores are good, you're in AP Calc (what grade will your mid-year report show in that?), and you have good scores in general and solid, diverse ECs. What did you get on the AP tests (English and APUSH?) you took after junior year?

Don't add more stress to your life by trying to play guessing games with people who don't understand the situation any better than you do. blackeyedsusan hit it right on the nose. What is -is; what is meant to be - will be - in the end it all works out.
