I applied EA to Boston College, and I applied to the Carroll School of Management. I am pretty sure that I would like to go into accounting, so I figured applying to the business school would be the way to go. But, does this mean that I will not get the same liberal arts education as I would get from the College of Arts and Sciences? Is one more competitive than the other? If I do not get into the business school, is there still a chance I could be accepted to the college? If you know these answers it would be really helpful!

Also, if I decide to switch majors or decide I want to do something else, what would my options be?

actually, BC is one of the few biz schools that does require quite a few liberal arts courses to complete the degree. But if you are accepted into CSOM, and you’d prefer to say major in Econ or Comm and take a few classes in Accounting, you can transfer into A&S. (But for those reading this thread, it is nearly impossible to transfer from A&S into CSOM).

Both colleges are somewhat equivalent in admissions difficulty stats wise, although I do believe that gender comes into play for CSOM. Pure speculation on my part, but every other undergrad b-school provides an admissions tip to females, so I see no reason why BC would not do the same.

No, you are only considered for the College to which you apply. If you are rejected by CSOM, your app will not be considered by A&S.

Good luck.
