Worried

Hey everyone! I'm currently a high school freshman and I've been thinking about college for quite some time now. I'm doing fine academically, taking all of the highest courses available (with decent grades) and planning to keep it up throughout my high school career, but my worries lie in EC's. At the moment I have none at all and it's difficult for me to find anything I'm interested in. I have never been allowed to do anything outside of school because I've never had any source of transportation until now. Both of my parents work long hours with manual labor jobs (came from Asia with little education) to care for us (4 kids) and didn't trust anyone other than themselves driving us (except the school bus) so I was always trapped at home. Now that my brother can drive, my parents have given me permission to do anything that will benefit my future. My problem is, I'm not very interested in anything that's offered and I'm worried that my lack of participation will affect my future. I don't want to let my parents down. After browsing these forums for a while - especially the chances forum - I'm very nervous considering many of you guys have long and impressive lists of EC's and sometimes not making it into the college(s) you prefer.

Anything I should do?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. Not really sure where to post this :p.

Volunteer in the community. You can volunteer on political campaigns, at local museums or non-profits, even at the local library reading to kids. Just think about what interests you and who in the community is working with that topic. Then volunteer!!
