Worth Applying to Columbia and/or Cornell?

<p>Hey everyone, I know if anything I am a longshot at most Ivies but I was just interested to see if there was any shot at all.</p>

<p>about 100th in my class of 550.
1st SAT attempt 1800
2nd SAT attempt 1950
1st ACT attempt 29
Took an ACT practice, 33, taking in Sept. (if I got a 34, 35, or 36 how much would chances increase?)
Weighted GPA 3.83
Unweighted GPA around a 3.5</p>

<p>AP scores
AP Physics - 4 Junior Year
AP Euro - 3 Sophomore Year
AP Stats - 2 Sophomore Year
Currently in AP Psych, AP Govt, AP Micro, and AP Calc, AB and BC
ECs
Highly involved in my church throughout high school.
Volunteered at the food bank, plan to volunteer more frequently.
Worked about 15 hrs a week for 2 years in Customer Service, plan to work through college.
Member of Beta Club since 4th grade.
Most likely will be accepted into National Honor Society this year.
As a freshman made JV Basketball.</p>

<p>I would do it. I’m sort of in the same boat as you got a 3.5 gpa and good sats hoping to get it up 2100 in october. Ill give you some advice my doctor gave me. “Don’t tell yourself no”, let them tell you no. So basically its like this dont say well my scores arent the best and my gpa isnt the best I shouldnt even apply. If you really want to go there then apply and let them tell you no. No one her can tell you exactly what the admission officers are thinking. Apply and hope for the best thats what I am doing. Me personally I I’m 12th in my class of 70 with a 3.5 gpa and Im applying even though even one here basically tells me I have no chance. Believe n your self.</p>

<p>That’s really great advice, I know it is good to apply to a few reaches, about 4 or 5 schools in your range, and 2 or 3 safety schools. Haha obviously these are the reaches.</p>
