Columbia, Yale, more; BUT i have reasons for asking chances! :)

** For Those Who Want A Reason **

I tried to see if ED facebook acceptances/deferrals/rejections from my friends (from summer programs, mostly, not from my school) would give me any idea of the pool for this year, but they do not. Plenty of them don't make sense in comparison to other people, I'm just wondering if...
1) my school will help (public, rural-ish)
2) my ethnicity will hurt (are there too many asians in ivies? :/)
3) are my extracurriculars as unique (for my area) as i think they are?
4) how do the colleges know how passionate an applicant is? i think i communicated my interest in dance and math, and my creativity, in my essays but will they put it all together?

bump
bump
bump

dudeee! i’m indian too. and omg, i do b-nat too! its really cool that you do your own classes. i want to start that soon, but i need to get my damn arengetram over with. anywhooo i think we kind of have similar stats. i mean, we do a lot of different things, but i think we’re both at the same level of competitiveness when it comes to the applicant pools at the colleges that you’re applying to.

Columbia, Brown - mid reach
Yale, MIT, Harvard - a little reach-er than the others haha
Tufts, Wellesley, Wesleyan - matches/low reaches
Vassar, Mount Holyoke - matches

ooh and chance me back!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/851528-last-minute-scramble-appear-accomplished.html</a></p>

im going to be straight up honest, and im harsh. prepare to get a lot of rejection notices this spring

Columbia - rejection
Yale - rejection
Brown - rejection
MIT - rejection
Harvard - rejection
Tufts - rejection
Wellesley - idk
Vassar - rejection
Wesleyan - idk
Mount Holyoke - idk

wow, cool you do indian classical dance thats awesome, the ivies are going to be a reach for you, sorry dont know about the colleges though

good luck my fellow indian:)

rejected at vassar? are you kidding me?
i’m like above their ranges for everything, that’s not what my guidence counselor seems to think…

i was mainly wondering about the other ones,
might i ask why exactly it’s a pile of rejection letters…

hey chance me back, sheesh.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/851528-last-minute-scramble-appear-accomplished.html</a></p>

sorry i realize i am demanding but i am DESPERATE. and yeah, i don’t care about my dignity here.

lol sry i got caught up in that other kid mister bag of hot air

Vassar isn’t easy as it you seem to think. Do I really need to explain why Harvard, MIT, Brown, Yale, and Columbia are all reaches? It’s reaches for everyone! I told you, I’m harsh. I’m giving you a brutal, honest opinion.

why would you ask for chances if your just going to argue them and say you should get in?

ok fyi, the word “reach” does not mean the same thing as the word “rejection”

is it grades? extracurriculars? something elusive that nobody can name?

maybe in comparison to some other people on here i look like i’m lacking but in the context of the area that i come from this is pretty much a top leadership position for a high school student

well because he’s wrote down a list of 10 rejections for like 5 other people and he never says why

bumping up now

FYI, sneva, I did include a reason why since they didn’t like my opinion. Remember, you asked CC for our opinions. We replied.

Seriously, once again the word “reach” does not mean “rejection”. I will concede that the Ivys are still reaches for you, but they are for everyone else, there’s nothing we can do about it. Best of luck and I’d say that you have an average chance at those reach schools.
