Worth it for out of state?

Just wondering if this university would be a wise choice for an out of state student (is any public?)? By the way, I plan to stude Computer Science.

Stupid question: What kind of student body is that of UW's? I know I'll probably get an answer akin to "You can find all kinds of people here."

Is it really as much of a commuter school as I hear it is?

sadly I'm not too sure about their computer science program, but I know the school is equipped with tons of computers.
A lot of people there are into sports and politics and there are some parties, but not enough to be a party school. The location is wonderful (I love the U-district). Many people there are liberal and come from many different backgrounds. I see mostly white and asian students but I know there is more than that. and it is very GLBT friendly. oh and you get a bus pass and it's very easy to travel about the city without a car.

uw has a very prestigious CS program. for west coast, at least
