Worth It To ED As Int'l Looking For FA?

As the title says, I'm just wondering if it is worth it for a Canadian student like me to apply ED to Columbia College if I am requesting financial aid. I know their aid policy changed and foreign student applications are considered under a need-aware policy. Would this affect my admission chances so much that I should just not bother with applying? Should I just apply RD (I may have a better SAT score by then)?

don’t apply ED unless you’re 100 percent committed to attending. If financial aid is an issue, I would wait until RD. If they want you you’ll get in RD anyway.

I am committed to attending Financial Aid is the only problem. I’m afraid it’ll just completely destroy my chances.

Bump (real sorry it’s just the deadline is coming up and I want other opinions!)

If they don’t give you enough FA you can meet with a financial aid officer and see if the school is willing to meet your need. If not, you can withdraw from the ED agreement. I’d say go for it.

I’m worried about being admitted at all, actually. Basically I’m wondering if I am “wasting” an ED on Columbia when I could apply to a need-blind school (such as Penn; HPY would be reaches - then again, with the need-aware policy, so is Columbia).

^ I have the EXACT same problem
A canuck who really wants to go to Columbia. I’m applying ED w/ FA but I’m worried that because I’m an international, it’ll blow my chances of getting accepted.

I’m also applying to Columbia for ED from Canada, but I don’t need FA. Does it really affect the admissions process? I think if Columbia thinks you’re qualified, you’ll get in regardless.

too many qualified intls wont get in. Please apply to PENN which is need blind to cannadians. CU changed their FA policy for candadians for a reason. it is much harder for you to get in if you request FA.

^ well **** then :|

the application is already submitted
ah well T__T

Same here; its not submitted but it’s too late to start on Penn.
