What are some respectable travel programs offered in the summer that offer studying in a foreign academic institution? Also, what are some summer programs in the US that are similar to TASP in that they are humanities-based, but aren't like the stereotypical Ivy league SSP's which cost thousands of dollars? Also, what would the price range be for these respective programs?

Thank you

maybe u could try posting in the summer programs forum...im also interested in hearing about other programs that are not too costly for rising juniors...

If you want to do a study abroad program, I recommend YFU bias because there's some scholarships to choose from if you need financial help. Some are region specific (where you live), some are country specific (destinations), some are only available to children of employees of certain companies, and some scholarships are open to anyone wanting to go anywhere. but maybe the requirements for some of these won't fit you, which is a con.

If you're talking about going somewhere this summer, however, most of YFU's scholarships are now closed. The ones that are left, mostly Japan, close on February 12th. If Japan isn't your thing and you're looking to go somewhere else this summer, I'm sorry that this won't help you :/.

Without a scholarship, the deadline is April 1st. However, even the cheapest program will run $5,995...

If you have any questions about the organization, feel free to pm me about it. I went to Japan for 10 months with them in 2006.

Not exactly sure if this is what you mean, but there are plenty of language schools in other countries. So you go there, go to class, attend the activities the school offers, live in an appartment with other students, and basically live in that country for as many weeks as you want. Its fairly cheap, too.
