looking for a good summer program in Japan

My rising senior D is interested in going to Japan for the summer... or at least a portion of it. The only ones I've found were AYUSA and YFU-USA. The latter seems like it might be competitive to get into. Her GPA is middling at best. We traveled to Japan a few years ago and she's been yearning to return. Her GC felt it might not be a bad idea since it would show she's passionate about something. I've been wary of other Summer Abroad programs in Europe since they really seem to be just about partying. Japan I was hoping might be better supervised. Has anyone done either of the above programs or have another one to suggest?

I don’t if People to People has a Japan program, but I know it’s a good program.
Also if you go to [CIEE - work, travel, study and exchange programs for students, teachers, employers, schools, universities, and families | CIEE - Council on International Educational Exchange](http://www.ciee.org) they have a Japan program

My s applied for a yfu scholarship to Japan for this summer. We heard good things about yfu but you’re right the scholarships are competitive. I think the deadlines are passed but they are probably still taking apps of you can pay.
