Would a double major in Economics and Political Science provide good jobs?

I am interested in both subjects and I am contemplating a double major. What kind of jobs could you get with a double major in Political Science and Economics? Are there any other majors that are similar and would provide better job possibilities? I am looking at colleges such as Texas A&M and Florida State. Thanks!

I understand your interest in poli sci and econ. If you are interested in law school, go for it. However, if you want a job, you will be much better teaming econ with a math or stat major. Also, accounting with a minor in poli sci would give you better job prospects. I can think of many ways you can go if you want a better job. What it really comes down to is what are you interested in doing with your life. Where do you see yourself 5, 10, 15 years from now?

I am going to go into NROTC in college and spend some time in the Marine Corps as an officer after I graduate. I never really had any specific jobs in mind for afterwards. I knew econ had some good job possibilities and the addition of polisci would only make it better. Accounting doesn’t sound like something I’d enjoy doing (from what I’ve heard about it). I kind of thought about statistics and it sounds like something I might enjoy, but I don’t have as much interest in it as I do econ/polisci.

I do think as an econ major, there is value to obtaining analysis skills. Just looking at the FSU program, there is some stat work. I would recommend taking the more rigorous math classes if possible. But the poli sci angle makes more sense to me now. Also, while you are in the Corps, you might have a chance to enhance your skills.

Funny but my boss is an ex-marine who went to FSU.

Good luck.
