I’m going to start a politics and philosophy club. I know that extreme and profound dedication is needed along with extensive accomplishments in order to HARVARDIZE MY CLUB(YEAH!)! Okay- what should I do in this club other than allowing people to debate on various controvertible issues of the day? Should we write letters to legislatures? Any ideas that will help me I would greatly appreciate!

Any ideas?

What do you mean by "harvardize?"

give ideas as to how to make this club useful- how to show my DEDICATION to the community and to society- or how to show my dedication to two topics I love: politics and philosophy
harvardize should be a real word---what do you think?

These days, all words are verbs. No need for special permission to "verb" something.

why don't you tell us more about this club of yours.

Well, my school can be a very violent place (a teacher was assaulted- it was in the news)- i think that adding philosophy and proper looks at politics will make things more peaceful- but what should I do? I was considering working with Amnesty or perhaps writing letters to legislators or publishing policy papers maybe... I NEED SOME IDEAS- please?

Get involved actively in the community, get press or get published, meet some politicians, shake some hands, run for office, sponsor a turn-in-your-weapon day at your school to stop the violence.

hey netshark2005! do you live in innercity detroit? or the suburbs and just put detroit because nobody knows where bloomfield hills or rochester or troy are? jw, cuz i live in metro-detroit!

you should be doing this club becuase you're concerned and actually want to, not because you want to make it appealing to harvard. theyll see right through it.

exactly so filmxoxo17, one of the guys i talked to from harvard said that adcoms are very suspicious of any activity that you start in your senior year. So watch out

I live in Southfield, but am only 1/3 mile away from 8 Mile. So, not quite the inner city, but it's no WB either. My dad lives in Westbloomfield though...

we've had track meets in southfield! and a friend who goes to my school lives in southfield.

haha, it amuses me when out of state people who hear that i live in michigan immediately ask, 'do you know eminem? do u live on 8 mile?'

Do you know eminem??lol

haha, of course, and madonna, and kid rock, and tim allen!

DAMN!! your so cool lol...could u check my other post??

haha i just realized how much i've posted within the last two days... it's weird how addictive this can get and how free time during break combines for this result

your other post about age? i don't think it will hurt you. many people are below the age of 17 when they apply. they'll just look at you like any other applicant

coooooooolll, weight off my shoulders...so are u a swimmer?? whats your stroke. I'm 100m breast 1:07

breaststroke, about 1:16, not good enough for div 1 and i'm not gonna even try, cuz then my life would be swimming and as much as i love it, i want to go to college to learn, not swim, so intramural for me!

lol...thats true. But i cant imagine my life without 4am practices. are u m/f. I hear that some div1 teams have a really fast A team and a B team that doesnt train as hard. you know about this??
