If a college has rolling admissions and the regular application deadline is March or there's no closing date, would applying in January be considered too late or is it okay? I'm worried about the whole "the later you apply, the more it hurts your chances" thing. Is that true or is it a myth?

Applying in January would be fine, most likely. Do keep in mind, though, that things like housing and financial aid are usually first come first serve, so don’t just put off applying forever.

Some desirable rolling admission colleges are mostly full by January.

^How can they be full if most of the students won’t decide to attend that college? (Assuming they applied to other colleges too)

Some rolling admission colleges are good enough that students WILL decide to to attend, though. It depends on the school.
