AP courses I'm taking this year- 1 (euro)
Honors- none
Easy courses- PE
the rest- Geosystem, US, Math Anal, Spanish 2 (repeating), eng

(Would this courseload be described as below average, average, above average?)

Its been almost a quarter and i just realized my courseloads are not what colleges(or CCers) would describe as challenging!!!

i have a pretty fair grade so far- 3.8~3.9
Would easy workloads in junior year affect my chance to getting into good, competitive schools. (not ivys, but schools a level or two under that)??

By the way im Intl and moved to states junior year (so had to take PE, retake Spanish 2(because i was doubtful i could do good in spanish 3)),

even i take easy courseloads my grades might go down by .1~.2 points first semester. (because it has a different scale 90-94- 3.5)

Would htis be a big hurt when applying to good colleges?

I'm planning to take 3-4 APS + PE+eng+Spanish in my senior year. Would this make up for the unchallenging courses in my junior year?

i need your opinion and any other advice you can give. thx

UVA is a top school, of course. I think there are two issues here.
1. Whether you have taken the "recommended hs preparation" (4yrs English, x year Math....). Go to the college website and see how your courses compare with the recommended. If there are discrepancies, come back here for advice if you like.
2. Whether you took a "challenging" or "most challenging available" courseload. I'm guessing that your situation, changing schools and countries, will allow for some leeway in how many Honors/AP you took. And you are taking some. Some of the international parents here will know more.

As you begin to search for colleges and, knowing that you like UVA, look for others which are less selective but have the attributes you like about UVA. These will be your "50/50" chance and "sure bet" schools and something like UVA can be among your reach schools.

Personally I don't think a stenuous senior year can replace a poor junior and sophmore one.If you call and ask admission counselors they will be very up front as to how they weigh all your information. And be careful about this site. C.C.has huge numbers of very bright over-achievers. You may find it will be easier than you thought to find a college where you will be accepted and like. Getting accepted and getting merit aid is another matter.College is MIGHTY expensive. It's a real shame but a lot of kids who ar in 10th, 11th grade can't be told anything. They want to do what they want to do and by the time they wake up and catch on it's too late to be in the running for merit awards. But all is not lost. You can still make a success out of the situation by , maybe, going to community college or a lesser expensive college, doing well, then transferring to a more prestigeous college. You can save a lot that way. Then again, once you actually start college you may find a world of opportunity open up before you right where you are .That's the great thing about this country, it's so huge, there is so much opportunity .

So my advice is, don't obsess about past errors, just try to do as well as you can and apply to a variety of colleges. You are learning all the time!

Thank you.
I would appreciate if you can recommend some colleges
- colleges like UVA (competitive)
- less competitive but well known and good
I don't think community college or Not well known colleges could be a choice for me. I have to consider colleges more based on if i can get a job in my own country or in a international organization.

I plan to major in international affairs or fields related to becoming a diplomat. My goal is to work in the UN.
