I could go to community college free for two years and then transfer to Vanderbilt or UTK. But, if I did this would I still be able to get into a medical school like Vanderbilt or Duke?
Yes, of course it is possible. Be aware, however, that some medical schools like you to have taken the required pre-med classes at a four-year school.
@blprof So it would be ok if I only took gen ed classes at the community college and did all the pre-med ones at community college?
Do you mean all the pre-med ones at a four-year school? Yes.
@blprof Oops… I wasn’t paying attention to what I was typing. Yes, I meant pre-med ones a at four-year school.
Yes. Just do well in all your courses. GPA is very, very important for med school admissions.
I transferred from a community college to Cornell as a bio major. As long as you do well in the courses you take at the institution you transfer to you will be fine, as they validate your previous courses.
@Rivers231 Wow, congrats! Cornell is my dream school. What did you do, other than good grades, to help you get into Cornell?
@TheFutureDoc16 I think grades are number one for a transfer student, college grades. I was the president of a club and had a part time research position in a biochem lab which helped. Also I had around 400 hospital hours some other EC.
