<p>Teaching quality varies a lot from school to school, department to department. “The best” teaching professors are probably scattered at small colleges in who knows where, and not in the departments of Harvard or Cornell. Although at a Cornell or Harvard, you can probably be assured some minimum standard will at least be upheld (for the most part). I think anyone who has done any teaching can attest to the fact that being a good teacher and being accomplished in the subject are two entirely different sets of skills. Some of my TA’s at Cornell taught me more than the professors because the TA’s just had the right knack for teaching.</p>
