One of my parents never attended college and the other (they're seperated) is going to receive their bachelor's degree May or June of my senior year.

There are several definitions of first gen which varies between colleges and organizations. Some consider you first gen if a parent never attended college, some if a parent didn’t get a degree. Colleges don’t ask if you are first gen, rather they ask for the college history, if any, of your parents (where did they attend, what degree did they receive?), then they decide if you fit their definition of first gen.

p.s. the Search function is very useful for questions that have distinct key words such as ‘first gen’, and really helps for FAQs like this.
