Can anyone with experience tell me what the student body is like at Hopkins? I’m looking for a school where people are excited to attend and excited to learn. Also, I’m concerned that Hopkins is too science-focused, since I’ll be starting college undecided and could possibly go into the humanities. Does anyone have any advice?
The student body at Hopkins is pretty diverse - if you go to Hopkins you will find a subset of people with whom you fit in.
To address the specific points:
Hopkins students love to complain. However, students are generally proud of the school, it’s achievements, and have a good amount of school spirit (though it’s focused more on academics than sports). The school is also making a concentrated effort to improve student life by improving orientation programs, adding and promoting clubs and organizations, hiring new administrators, improving student support services, etc. Hopkins is also very steeped in research and most students are very interested in learning.
Hopkins is pretty science focused, but there are a lot of humanities students and opportunities in humanities. We have great public health, international studies, history, economics, and writing programs with opportunities for research, co-ops, internships, and volunteering.
Thanks, @saif235!
