I have a 4.45 GPA and have got all 5’s on my 8 AP exams. I got 1540 on my SAT, 34 on the ACT, I have 500 volunteering hours, and I also have 100 shadowing hours with people ranging from pediatricians to ER workers. Also, I created a non-profit that has raised 20,000 dollars for people with diabetes and lung cancer. Also, I went to Haiti for two weeks to medically help the community by calculating blood pressure, blood sugar, and even did a little suturing. Also, I am the leader of a Premedical association club in my school and am in two other clubs including HOSA and MUN. I also play Varsity soccer and the piano. I was hoping that all these medical aspects convey passion and determination, since I’m really committed towards the medical field.
You realize that you need a bachelor’s degree before you can apply to medical school, right?
What would your undergrad major be? And it cannot be “premed”. Admission to Stanford undergrad is a reach for everyone but you seem to be on the right path.
Imagine that you’re on the admissions committee at Stanford. You have only so much room for potential doctors. After sifting through the pile of 30,000+ applications, it hits you that thousands of kids want to be a doctor someday.
So how do you choose? This is not an easy question to answer. It sounds like you have a lot of interest in medicine. You certainly have the brains, since the GPA and test scores look great. But not everyone can be admitted, and I’m sure you know that. We can’t give you an answer on what your chances will be.
Even if you don’t get into Stanford, it sounds like you’ve got a great head start on a future medical school application.
