would i look like a kid going to college?

so im really little-- 5 feet and 95 lbs. i still have to wear kids sized clothing/shoes-- cant even wear a 0 in juniors. i got curves and all but still feel like i look younger than 17... like 13/14. how do i make myself look older? by wearing makeup? or what else? yeah this is a weird question but whatever. ha thanks!

i know lots of tiny girls. but they all have something else to make up for their tininess...if you get what i mean. they don't look so tiny anymore!

well height really doesnt make THAT much of a difference . there are lots of really short people who look old
im guessing you could wear "mature" clothes, like work/dress pants (i dont know wat u call them lol-- i mean, like those black/grey ones that arent jeans) and u could wear button-down shirts and nice blouses/tops instead of a raggedy t-shirt?? lol i dunno
but as long as people havent come up to u and told you that you look like a kid (which could have something do to with the way your face looks)... then height doesnt matter

^^^my lame attempt at advice lol

I have a couple of ideas for you.

Stop wearing kids clothes if at all possible. Kids clothes are made for kids, and they will only make you look younger. The cut, design, and style are all chosen for eight year olds. Try the petite department of adult stores; some of their smaller sizes may fit you. The clothes are made for adult women, but redesigned to fit smaller bodies.

Try changing your hair style. I wear my hair in a couple of different ways, and I know that some make me look much older than I am. Ask some friends or your mother or a hairstylist for suggestions for mature looking hair cuts. You can try straightening or curling it or wearing it up or down in different ways. You can try getting it cut to a short or medium length or try growing it out. Try having it layered or colored or adding fashionable bangs. Hair can really change the way you look.

Wearing conservative makeup can also help, in my opinion. If you wear too much, you will only look younger. Ask your mother or sister or friends to help you. You can also get your makeup done for free at a Clinique counter in a department store (though you should definitely buy some of the makeup). Explain that you want to look older, and the person helping you should have some tips.

There are some little things you can do, as well. Stand up straight with good posture. Confidence will make you look older and more mature right away, so feel proud and comfortable with who you are. Avoid teenager-y bracelets, earings, etc.

That's all I can think of right now. Good luck!

thanks corranged. ohh yeah cutting my hair sounds like a good idea. the only problem is that im low maintainance... in the morning i shower but dont bother blow drying or doing anything to my hair. i let it air dry and then tie a braid or polytail because i value my 5.5 hours of sleep. thats me if it helps. http://photobucket.com/albums/e39/snowgirl9388/?action=view&current=8f7b94a6.jpg
is there any hairstyle that you dont need to put in mouse/gel or straighten/curl? thanks for the help :-)

There are a lot of medium lengths (around your chin) where you wouldn't need to do any work on it. I'm super lazy with my hair, as well, but I had short hair for years. Even if you put some stuff in it, it takes a shorter amount of time overall. Washing it when you shower is quick, and you don't even need to comb through it to get tangles out. It also dries quickly. I grew my hair out, and it's definitely more work now than it used to be. I have thick, wavy hair, and it takes forever to comb and dry and everything.

also, earrings are a plus- its amazing how much simple earrings can make one look so much prettier and more sophisticated (i like the earrings in your pic)

plus with earrings, a ponytail looks good (as opposed to childish) so thats low-maintanence enough

and anyway i wouldnt say that you look like a kid at all

From your picture, you look 17 to me :).

In general, I think looking conservative will help make you look older (clothes, hair, makeup, jewelry, etc.)

I'm always telling my friend to cut her hair really short and slick it back to go for the "power look" :p

i was looking at ur myspace. ur not 17!!!!! u look younger than my 10 year old sister!!!

snowgirl
i feel yo pain girl!!! People think that I'm in 8th grade all the time (its soooo annoying) and it feels weird to tell them that I'm a senior in HS

i think i'm gonna use some of corranged tips

^then grow faster!!!

The perfect example of the "power look" hair cut: http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway_2/images/pics/pic_eps_rate_zulema_ep2.jpg

hahahaha

i love project runway!! The finale is tomorrow!

Height does not have much to do with how old you look. I'm 5`5 (and a guy) and most people think I'm in my mid 20's (I'm 20). Considering I'm about average height for a 8th grader I've decided height is not the important factor.

I think as long you have the curves you're good to go.

You'll be fine. I'm also kinda small (5'1.5", 115 lbs.), have hair to the middle of my back w/ bangs, shop in the kids section, and have never had any major comments made about it. I have had people say I was tiny and cute, but never that I looked like a little kid. Just dress cute, wear make-up and have some confidence in yourself.
