Would Just appreciate some advice

Hey,

To keep it short and sweet, I live in central CA and am deciding between Georgetown University, U Penn and UC Berkeley. My intended major is political science, and should my interests deviate I would probably pursue Business or International Affairs.

Details of my acceptances: I was accepted to the College of A & S at Gtwn, and the College of A&S at Penn. I am a regents scholar at Berkeley (one of 200 out of every incoming class) The scholarship has some minor monetary perks, but is prestigious.

I am very flexible, which is proving to be a disadvantage. I basically want a school that offers many opportunities, a good balance of work and play, and good connections in the long run. Political awareness and activism, as well as opportunites in the city is also important. Which has the best poli sci undergrad dept.? and which should I choose from. In terms of name-brand...whats the best at a glance. Opinions?

Thanks

Georgetown is the best for poly science.

Berkeley also offers an excellent poly sci program--ranking no. 2 in the NRC departmental rankings. Georgetown ranks 37 and UPenn ranks 42. Also, Berkeley is significantly cheaper than both schools, because you're instate. Couple that with your honors program, I would say unless you hate Berkeley, or love UPenn or Georgetown, Berkeley is the no brainer, IMO.

Of course, you can't really make a bad decision, these are all great schools.

Can't speak for poli-sci but UPenn is probably the best for business with its economics.

The campuses of each are quite different. What do you want in terms of location, immersion in a city, campus community?

And wrt to social life, are you a partier, or do you want a lot of theater, student clubs, or some other form of student life.

I think answering those questions will help you narrow it down.

UC - Berkeley! the honors program (great for getting the best internships, which are important), the money and the high ranking for all your areas of interest. Plus it sounds like a perfect fit for you.

Georgetown because the campus is more beautiful than UPenn and you will have small classes than at UCB. Being in DC for PolySci has got to be a good thing.

Can't speak about UCB.

Visited both of these schools in March and liked both of them even though they are very different. Given the criteria that you listed I'd go to GT. Nice campus, good housing, great government program plus the Foreign Service school adds to the richness of the pol sci environment. Can't beat DC if that is what you are interested in.
