Would looking for EC'c/volunteering even be worth the time?

I'm applying next fall and I don't have any EC that I would be able to put on my application. My question is would it be worth my time to even look for/do EC's at this point? I've been looking around and I can only find petty things like park clean-ups and library volunteering.

Just thought I would ask before I commit to anything.

Er, yes, community service is always worth the time. But if you’re asking in terms of transfer oppurtunity, then no, not really. The best time to do that sort of thing is once you transfer, and the university you go to will provide you with the networks and opportunities to do more high-end volunteering/internships.

well as a transfer applicant, ECs really aren’t that important to the admissions officer, but it can definitely pay off. A LOT of scholarships are given to students with a background in volunteering, so I’d say definitely get involved in something. You don’t have to go all out or anything, but you should have some experience.c

If you don’t think it’s worth your time, don’t do it. Hella people at my CC did student government and I think it’s a waste of time. I found a health internship and I loved it. Do something related to your major, it wouldn’t be a waste of time if you like it.

ECs/volunteering are only essential if you’re transferring to REALLY competitive majors like Business Admin @ Haas or UCLA’s Film school.
